Welcome To Faith Church
Welcome from the Pastor
Welcome to the website of Faith Presbyterian Church of Long Beach! Thanks for coming to give us a look “from afar”. We are first and foremost a community of faith centered in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are a growing and diverse fellowship of believers who love God and long to see people come to the Lord Jesus Christ and receive all the benefits of His redeeming grace.
Whether you are a Christian, a skeptic, or just curious, it is my hope that our website would be helpful to you. While we warmly welcome you to our website, we would love to have you come and visit us at church! Let me invite you to our church in the words of the late Dr. James M. Boice:
To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest;
to all who mourn and long for comfort;
to all who struggle and desire victory;
to all who sin and need a Savior;
to all who are strangers and want fellowship;
to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness;
and to whoever will come—
this church opens wide her doors and offers her
welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In His Service,
James Lim, Pastor
About Our Church
Folks at Faith have come from both Christian and non-Christian homes. Brought together by mutual love for our common Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, it is our desire to establish a solid, Bible-believing Church, rooted in Scripture, and faithful to the message of historic Christianity. Committed to careful, accurate exposition of the Bible, it is our desire that people everywhere might come to repent of their sins, asking Jesus Christ to forgive them, save them, and be their Lord. God’s Church is a place of sanctuary, a place for building up God’s people, and a place to find godly answers for the struggles of a hurting world.
About Our Denomination
The Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) is a Bible-teaching denomination that has been planting churches and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ since its inception in 1936. As a denomination, we are fully committed to helping people develop a Christian way of thinking and living. The OPC is a member of the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Churches — It is not affiliated with the National or World Council of Churches.
The Bible has the answers to the most frequently asked questions in life, such as: Is there a God? If so, how may I come to know Him? Where is my life going? What will happen when I die? Is there a purpose for my life? Is God willing to forgive me of my sins? What is His way of doing that? Can God help me overcome sins in my life? In my family’s life? Can He put the broken pieces of my life or my family’s life together again?
The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who makes Himself known in the Bible is a holy as well as loving God, who is inviting us to turn from our sins and come into His company to enjoy His friendship forever. He promises to hear and meet with those of a humble and contrite heart, those who approach Him through belief in His Son as their Savior, the only mediator between God and Man.
Faith OPC is Committed to:
- The authority of God’s Word for our daily lives.
- Seeking to establish the Lordship of Christ over the whole of our lives as fathers, mothers, businessmen, employees, citizens in the community, and members of his church.
- Developing quality family life.
- Helping people to explain why they are Christians and why it is so important to proclaim the good news of Christ to those who do not know Him.
